Improved Powertrain & Performance
The 2022 Subaru WRX comes with an the most advanced performance in the model’s 20 year history. The new WRX comes with an upgraded, turbocharged 2.4 four-cylinder Subaru BOXER® engine that makes 271 horsepower and 258 foot-pounds of torque. This engine is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission, or an optional new automatic transmission. Subaru developed a new Subaru Performance Transmission that offers faster up and down shifts. The new WRX also offers three different drive-mode settings and paddle shifters present on the steering wheel.
Every 2022 WRX will come standard with the latest Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Active Torque Vectoring. Subaru added a first-ever trim level for the new WRX, the WRX GT, that features new electronically controlled dampers. This is the first WRX generation built on the Subaru Global platform, which features improved safety, driving dynamics, and reductions in vibration and noise.
Driver-Focused Interior
The interior of the 2022 WRX feels like a true sportscar with a black interior, carbon-fiber-like accents, and red contrast stitching. However, sports enthusiasts looking for an more upscale interior, can upgrade to the the top-tier GT trim level. The GT Trim features Recaro seats upholstered in Ultrasuede. Some additional interior features include a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, optional 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an all-new, tablet-style 11.6-inch high-definition touchscreen infotainment system.
All-New Redesigned Exterior
Subaru 2022 WRX appears with a wide-body design that gives it a bold new look and an aggressive stance. The front face holding a Subaru signature is strategically positioned at the center of the hexagonal grille. A broad front hood partnered with a compact LED headlight emphasizes its comprehensive low appearance. Drivers will love the prominent character lines that cross from the front through the sides to the rear of this sport sedan, giving it a whole performance capability appearance. The rear taillights are designed to give you an eye from behind with a reminiscent glowing look of volcanic magma. Enthusiasts can agree that the 2022 Subaru WRX looks vastly different from the last generation, while Subaru engineers will explain how the new WRX saw several updates to aerodynamics giving it the best performance of any WRX model to date.

The 2022 WRX comes with an improved body rigidity that gives more responsive steering, smooth handling, and intelligent hazard avoidance for emergencies. After a crash test performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the new WRX proved to absorb more energy better from its front and side crashes than previous models. The WRX also comes with standard with a suite of safety features and driver assists in Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. Some of those features include electric brake booster, Lane Departure Assist, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Steering, Pre-Collision Braking System, Rear Vision Camera, 7-airbag system, and more.
